HHS senior Matthew Potucek hit his 1,000th point for his high school career with the Trojans during the game on Tuesday, Feb 22. Potucek, who is averaging a 57.3 percent effective field goal percentage on just under 10 attempts a game, scored early in the first quarter to a cheering home crowd.
“It is an impressive accomplishment. The great thing about Matt scoring 1000 points in his career is how unselfish he is as a player. He has been a hard competitor his entire career and cares more about the team winning than his own stats. The way he did it tonight is a great example. He scored 18 for nine out of 12 shooting in 21 minutes,” said coach Darrel Knoll.
Potucek has played basketball for 12 years.
“I think it’s cool to get to a thousand points, ’cause it’s something not everyone gets to do, and it’s something to be remembered by,” said Potucek.
He will be graduating in May, and he is not yet sure what he will be doing after graduation.
