Marion High school performed their spring play last weekend. They did Willy Wonka, based on the book by Roald Dahl, music and lyrics by Briscusse and Newley, adapted for stage by Briscusse and McDonald.
Director Ruth Springer was assisted by student director (and lead) Christian Albin. Albin is a senior who is pursuing musical theater in college after he graduates this May.
“It was a very successful and entertaining show. I was impressed with the dedication and what the students pulled off in such a short period of time. With COVID quarantines, snow days and a shorter time frame in general, they didn’t just pull it together but made it a magical experience for the audience,” said Springer.
Springer said that set design was a huge part of the production and was directed by Kylie Schroeder and built by Eric Billings. The main cast consisted of Christian Albin, Hannah May, Tristen Dye, Madison Arocha, Addison Norris, Addy Davis-Ash, Keenan Lange, Jessica Arevelo, Georgia Madgwick, Gabe Hasenbank, Joey Rovelo, Abby Wesner, Jordy Raymer, Arwen Fay, Sadie Lange, Amy Gayle, Sophia Dye, Sara Groening, Alyera Koehn, Emily Hake, Miriam Mason, Haiti Schaffers, Epiphany Spence and Quade Williams
