Luke Watkins and Sara Groening competed in the South Central District Meats Evaluation Career Development Event on Wednesday, March 23 in Arkansas City. Participants were required to identify thirty retail cuts of meat along with identifying the primal cut each retail cut came from, the species of livestock, and the recommended type of cookery method. They also took a written test over the meat industry and then learned about how to place various primal and retail cuts of meat.
Individually for Marion, Watkins placed 2nd and Groening placed 12th in the greenhand division.
