First-year FFA members from Marion placed 4th at the Freshman Agriculture Mechanics Contest at Newton High School on April 26. Individually, Owen White placed 3rd overall and Auryona Countryman placed 12th. Other members competing from Marion included Jameson Looper, Damien Thouvenall, and Landon Bryant.
Participants in the event were required to complete a Shielded Metal Arc Weld using 7018 electrodes, identify fifty different common hand tools, identify parts of an abrasive metal saw, complete a problem-solving skill activity, and take a written test.
