Marion 4-H Club held monthly meeting

The February meeting of the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club began at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 7th at the Marion County Lake Hall. The flag salute was led by Lane Smith and the 4-H Pledge by Kaylee Morrison. Roll call “Tell us your middle name” was answered by 26 members, five leaders, and six parents. The meeting minutes from our January meeting were approved as read by Ryker Salsbury, Secretary. A thank you note was read from the Marion County Clerk and the Marion County Commissioners from Christmas.

Noah Schmidt gave a report of the 4-H Council Meeting held on Jan. 16. There are many upcoming county and district activities that our club members can participate in during February and March. Shelby Summervilll gave the Treasurer’s Report. Ryker Salsbury gave the Reporter’s Report. Jaxon Salsbury, Parliamentarian, asked members to not talk while club officers and leaders are talking during the meeting. Amy Summervill gave the community leader‘s report. The Marion County Extension Office has moved. Please read the Marion County 4-H Newsletter that was emailed to families. It has lots of information about upcoming county and district events. Eileen Schmidt will be holding a Foods and Nutrition Project Meeting at the Aulne Church on Feb. 26.

The Lock-In Committee asked parents to vote by ballot on a date to host this event. Ballots can be left on the table at the end of the meeting. The lock-in will be a Friday evening event for the whole family to attend from 6-9 p.m.

Rylee Thomas led the club in signing Happy Birthday to February Birthdays. Josie Wealand gave a project talk “How to Fit A Market Steer” for her beef project. Tripp Peterson led the club in a game called Community for recreation. Eli Groening made the motion to adjourn the meeting. Refreshments were provided by the Vogel and Summervill Families. Our next meeting will be held on March 7 at 7 p.m. at the Marion County Lake Hall.
