Local driver retiring from service

UPS driver Matt Pope poses with his plaque that he was given at when Hillsboro Hardware hosted a come and go event on Friday, March 26 with refreshments and a chance for guests to thank Pope for his service. Pope has worked for UPS for a total of 38 years, and is now retiring. He drove the Hillsboro route for seven of those years and became a favorite of many. Pope became well loved for his friendliness and his tendency to know where residents worked and lived. He was well known for seeing customers at stores and letting them know he had just left that package they were waiting on at their home or office. He plans to spend time with his wife, kids and grandkids now that he is retired.
