LIEAP and Tax assistance available

The Department on Aging is offering to assist individuals to file Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)and Homestead refunds this year. They are helping now with Homestead and LIEAP to make sure people have all the necessary paperwork to file. Everyone should be receiving 1099-R for 2022 Social Security Benefits toward the end of January. They will start doing State/Federal returns Feb. 6-April 18 for incomes below $60,000.

They will not be doing in-person appointments for assistance this year, but can do the Homestead and LIEAP over the phone. For Income tax returns people will need to call and set up an appointment to drop of their taxes. To make an appointment to drop off taxes, call 620-382-3580.
