High school girl competes as only female at Demolition Derby in Marion County Fair

Scout Redger competed in the Demolition Derby on Saturday, July 23 at the Marion County Fairgrounds. She decided just the week before that she was going to run in the compact car heat so she and her brother worked on her car this past week to get it ready.

Redger was nervous and had only driven her car for about 20 mins earlier in the day to figure out how everything worked. She went out to the arena as the lone woman in the whole demo.

“Considering she couldn’t go in reverse and only had 2 tires, she kept going until her car overheated and conked out on her. Super proud of Scout for getting out there and stepping out of her comfort zone and hanging with the boys,” said mom Missi Duerksen. Scout’s brother, Sutton also took home his own title, the Mad Dog award.
