State FFA Ag Communications Contest took place last week in Manhattan on the Campus of Kansas State University. The event coordinators were from the AG Communications Department. Members took two exams: Editing and Communications tests.

A speaker spoke on the topic of Callery Pear trees for 10-15 minutes. This was followed by a question and answer session and then students prepared the following: Practicums – 1 student in each area, Video Production, Web Designer, Letter to the Editor and News Story.

The students were given a packet that complimented the speaker and had additional information and photos that they could use to prepare their practicum. Everything was done on paper/pencil.

Hillsboro had four FFA participants—Keeley Brewer, Alana Suderman, Kenzie Meisinger and Anslee Brewer. The team took second overall and 6th place individually.
