Happy Hustlers 4-H Club holds monthly meeting

The March meeting of the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club was called to order at 7 p.m. on March 7 by President Sara Groening. The flag salute was led by Antonia Baxa and the 4-H Pledge by Jaxon Salsbury. Roll call “A goal you have set in one of your 4-H projects” was answered by 24 members, six leaders, and nine parents and one guest. The February minutes were approved as read by the Secretary. Marion Middle School and Marion Elementary School each sent the club a thank you note for the snack baskets that were delivered.

Noah Schmidt reported the next 4-H Council Meeting will be held on Sunday, March 20. Shelby Summervill gave the treasurer’s report. Eli Groening made a motion to pay for the club Lock-In bill as it was presented to the club. Noah Schmidt seconded the motion. Ryker Salsbury gave the reporter’s report. Jaxon Salsbury, Parliamentarian, reminded members to walk to the refreshments and let the people with birthdays that month and guests go first.

Amy Summervill gave the community leader‘s report. She handed out 4-H Day ribbons to club members. Families were encouraged to start looking at and working on 4-H pin requirements for this year. Families may also want to start filling out record book pages before the end of the year deadline. Our May meeting date may need to change because of MES Concerts scheduled for the first and the second Mondays in May.

Eileen Schmidt reported there would be a Foods and Nutrition Project Meeting held at the Marion High School FCS classroom at 1:30 p.m. on March 26. Please bring your favorite pie filling to this project meeting.

Rylee Thomas led members in singing Happy Birthday to March Birthdays for Music Appreciation. Clayton Thomas gave a project demonstration on how to make a “Pipe Fitting Lamp” for his electricity project. Tripp Peterson gave a project talk entitled “Picture Perfect” for his photography project. Tripp Nelson gave a project talk about his bucket calf, Red, for his beef project. Tripp Peterson led the club in a game called Jump for recreation. Eli Groening made the motion to adjourn the meeting. Refreshments were provided by the Thomas and Peterson Families. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on April 4 at the Marion County Lake Hall.
