Goessel Elementary School hosted a Family Reading Night on Tuesday, Oct. 26 with a fun Pirate theme which included a ship and island in the gym, a glittering gold treasure room, and even the chance to practice walking the plank over shark infested waters.

“We listened to a guest pirate reader, engaged in fluency activities, sang a pirate sea chantey together, each child picked out a brand new book to take home, and most importantly, families spent time reading together,” said teacher Chrystiana Miller who was in charge of the event.

Miller estimated that 60% of the district’s families were in attendance.

“All the buccaneers had a great time and brought home a bounty of books and other treasures! Read on, me hearties,” said Miller.
