The Goessel FFA chapter placed 1st at the South Central District Ag Mechanics CDE in McPherson on March 29. The senior team consisted of Justin Nickel, Patrick Rust, Jake Wiens and Sam Herrel with a cumulative score of 991.

Nickel was the overall 1st Place Individual with a score of 281. Other Goessel members in attendance include Eli Boden (junior), Braxton Unruh (soph.) and Colby Nafziger (soph.). There were 21 schools at the district competition and a total of 99 students.

Last May, three of the four students on the senior team attended the State Ag Mechanics contest in Wamego.

“We had a tough loss and high hopes for bringing home some sort of recognition but we just weren’t there yet. On the first day of school this year these boys said ‘When is district Ag Mechanics this year, because we wanna work hard to win?’ I think that speaks volumes about these guys and I hope that they can continue to keep that motivation until May.” said FFA Advisor Alicia Cox.
Goessel FFA plans to attend State Ag Mechanics again this year in Manhattan.
