FACT receives grant from Hillsboro Community Foundation

Hillsboro, KS—Families and Communities Together, Inc. (FACT) of Marion County is pleased to announce that it has received a $2,500 grant from the Kansas Health Foundation Fund through the Hillsboro Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Central Kansas Community Foundation. FACT will use the funds through the Families Financial Assistance Network to assist families in the Hillsboro area.

The Family Financial Assistance Network (FFAN) is a collaboration of resources that coordinates emergency financial assistance for families needing immediate help paying rent, utilities, and other necessary bills to maintain secure, safe environments for their children.

Through the Family Financial Assistance Network, FACT has been able to help relocate families out of rodent-infested dwellings; has had the opportunity to help sustain families with sick children; has assisted many families in maintaining rent, utilities, and services necessary for the safety and well-being of their children; has helped families through catastrophic fires, floods and COVID; has assisted families in obtaining costly prescriptions for themselves or their children; as well as helping families who simply have exhausted their financial means. Through the FFAN, FACT aspires to help families and children succeed in all areas of their lives.

Since FACT is a non-profit organization, it heavily relies on grants as well as donations from organizations, churches, payroll deductions, and individuals to fund the Family Financial Assistance Network. That is why FACT deems this grant is so important and is so appreciative of the HCF.

Families and Communities Together, Inc. is an independent, local non-profit organization located in Hillsboro that serves families and children throughout each of the 12 communities of Marion County. FACT’s mission is to facilitate collaborative action to improve lives in our county, recognizing that all children live, learn, and thrive in safe, healthy homes, schools, and communities. FACT, in partnership with churches, agencies, and schools, provides a number of services including early childhood programs through the Marion County Early Childhood Task Force (ECTF), substance abuse prevention programs through the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition (SAPC), emergency family financial aid through the Family Financial Assistance Network (FFAN), early childhood literacy through the Marion County Chapter of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL), and resource and referral services through the publishing and distribution of the Marion County Resource Directory.
