Alice Harms, 79

 

Alice F. Harms, 79, homemaker, died Sept. 12 at her home in Parsons.

The funeral was held Sept. 18 at First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro. She was buried at Grace Hill Cemetery east of Newton.

She was born Nov. 20, 1927, to Peter D. and Mary (Funk) Pankratz in Hillsboro. On Aug. 3, 1952, she was married to Sylvester Lee Harms who predeceased her in 2005.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen and Kathy Harms of Tucson, Ariz., and John and Paula Harms of Leawood; a daughter, Sheila and Sam Lyle of Parsons; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established with Mennonite Disaster Service.

 

Leonard Klenda, 87

 

Leonard J. Klenda, 87, retired farmer and stockman, died Sept. 15 at Hillsboro Community Medical Center Long Term Care.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 at Holy Family Parish, St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen. Burial will be at the Pilsen Cemetery.

He was born Oct. 27, 1919, to Frank and Adolphine Tajchman Klenda in rural Tampa. He was married to Gladys, who predeceased him in 1946. On Nov. 8, 1950, he was married to Theresa Polok, who survives.

He is also survived by four sons, Vincent of Salina, and Dennis, Val and Steve, all of Lincolnville; two daughters, Monica Leihy of Hillsboro and Frances Mueller of Tampa; 28 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial funds have been established with Hillsboro Community Medical Center Long Term Care and the Tampa Ambulance Service.
