Velma A. Franz

Velma A. Franz, homemaker and farmer, died Oct. 20 at Bethesda Home in Goessel.

The funeral was Oct. 26 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel. She was buried at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery.

She was born March 16, 1913, to Peter H. and Susie (Warkentin) Unruh in McPherson County. On Oct. 26, 1947, she was married to Milford Franz, who predeceased her in 2005.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Debra Jackson, 38

Debra E. Jackson, 38, of Newton, died Oct. 24 in Salinda, Colo.

The funeral was Oct. 30 at Grace Community Church in Newton. She was buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

She was born Dec. 18, 1968, to Gene and Francis (Goodman) Price in Athens, Texas. On May 26, 1990, she was married to Doug Jackson, who survives.

She is also survived by her parents of Newton; and three daughters, Alexandrea, Katerina, and Abigail Jackson, all of Newton.

A memorial fund has been established with Caring Hands Humane Society in care of Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.?

Loretta Reiswig, 89

Loretta Reiswig, 89, former restaurant owner and cook, died Oct. 23 at Hillsboro Community Medical Center.

The funeral was Oct. 27 at Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church, rural Hillsboro. She was buried at Ebenfeld Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 9, 1918, to Charlie F. and Caroline Seibel Faul in Harvey, N.D. On Aug. 20, 1954, she was married to Bart Reiswig, who predeceased her.

She is survived by two sons, Rodney and Helen Faul of Clinton Township, Mich., and Gordon and Jeanie Reiswig of Hillsboro; a daughter, Marcia Williams of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial funds have been established with Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church.

Pauline Schimpt, 82

Pauline Gertrude Schimpf, 82, registered nurse, died Oct. 25 at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.

The funeral was Oct. 27 at the Holy Family Parish, St. Marks church in Marion. She was buried at the Marion Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 16, 1924, to Thomas and Mary (Neuwirth) Spachek. On Jan. 8, 1946, she was married to William Schimpf, who predeceased her in 1991.

She is survived by a son, William J. of Marion; two daughters, Cheryl Witt of Mt. Vernon, Ky., and Mary Jones of Hiawatha; two brothers, a sister, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
