Delbert Hamm
Delbert Hamm, 73, contracted milk hauler, died July 8 in Newton.
Visitation with family receiving guests is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
The service is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Durham with Curtis Wiens officiating.
He was born June 16, 1934, to Edward and Bertha (Hill) Hamm in Hillsboro. He was married to Linda Hamm, who died in 1982. On July 6, 1984, he was married to Carolyn Turner, who survives in rural Hillsboro.
He is also survived by four sons, Lonnie and Donna Hamm of rural Hillsboro, and Ronnie and Denise, David Peaney and Chris Stuart, all of Newton; five daughters, Connie and Tom Jenkins of Pratt, Bonnie and Royce Saltzman of Newton, Sharon Schabel and Tammie and Patrick Arebalo, all of Wichita, and Carrie Kasper of Peabody; two brothers, Duane of Hillsboro and Marvin of Wells; two sisters, Elma Klein and Florence Hett, both of Hillsboro; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
Sam Schmidt
Sam Schmidt, 94, retired dairy and crop farmer, died July 6 in Goessel.
The service is at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in rural Goessel with Linda Ewert and Lee Suderman officiating. Burial is at 10 a.m. at the church cemetery.
He was born Aug. 12, 1912, to J.R.F. and Elizabeth (Franz) Schmidt in Marion County. On Oct. 26, 1940, he was married to Dora Schroeder, who survives in Goessel.
He is also survived by a son, Larry W. and Diane of Shawnee; two daughters, Shirley A. and Conrad B. Szabo of New Britain, Conn., and Karen J. and Roy W. Monroe of Emporia; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-granddaughter.
Memorials have been established with AGAPE Senior Center and Bethesda Home in care of Miller Funeral Home in Goessel.
