Deaths (Week of Dec. 10)

Linda Gooszen

 

Linda E. Gooszen, 95, of Derby died Friday, Dec. 5.

Services were at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd, Wichita. Visitation was from noon to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial was at Arapaho Cemetery in Arapaho, Okla.

She was born March 14, 1913 to Henry and Minnie Heinrichs in Hillsboro. On Jan. 2, 1938, she was married to George Gooszen, who predeceased her.

Survivors are her children Phyllis and husband Hubert King of Wichita, Gary and wife Marilyn Gooszen of Emporia, Wilfred and wife Anne Gooszen of Waco, Texas, seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Kathryn Klassen

 

Kathryn Klassen, 95, a homemaker and apartment complex manager, died Nov. 4 at Salem Nursing Home in Hillsboro.

Services were Monday, Nov. 8 at 10:30 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, 102 S. Ash, Hillsboro with Pastor Randy Smith officiating. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until service time at the church on Monday. Burial was at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery in Hillsboro.

She was born May 28, 1913 to Peter R. and Agnes (Flaming) Jost in Hooker, Okla. On Sept. 7, 1930, she was married to Peter H. Klassen, who predeceased her.

She is survived by sons Vernon and wife Pat Klassen of McKinney, Texas and Daryle and wife Shirley Klassen of Loveland, Colo.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Helen McMinn

 

Helen Kay McMinn, 63, a housewife and bus monitor, died Dec. 6 in Hillsboro.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 at First Mennonite Church, 102 S. Ash, Hillsboro, with Pastor Randy Smith officiating. Burial will be private.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 at Jost Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington, Hillsboro.

She was born Aug. 12, 1945 to Isaac and Katie (Dyck) Schmidt in Goessel. On Sept. 2, 1962, she was married to John McMinn, who survives her.

Other survivors are sons Rick McMinn of McPherson, Randy and wife Julie McMinn of Derby and Rob McMinn of Hillsboro; daughter Deb and husband Mark Ward of Hugo, Colo.; brothers Jerry Schmidt of Hillsboro and Dale Schmidt of McPherson; sister Mary Jane Janzen of Walton and four grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established with the American Heart Association.
