Deaths (September 7, 2016)

• duane hamm, 84, retired AMPI milk route driver, died Aug. 31.

The service was Saturday, Sept. 3 at Durham Baptist Church. Burial was at Durham Park Cemetery.

His wife, Shirley, survives. He also is survived by children Charlene and husband Greg Thiessen, Myron and wife Kim Hamm and Cherie and husband Tim Goossen; son-in-law Albert Christianson; eight grandchildren; brother Marvin and wife Joyce Hamm; sister Florence Hett and other family and friends.

• Ruth elizabeth unrau schmidt, 96, a homemaker and volunteer of New­ton, died Aug. 29 at Newton Medical Center.

The service was Sunday, Sept. 4, at Tabor Mennonite Church, Newton.

She was born Aug. 19, 1920, to David and Marie (Balzer) Unrau east of Inman. On June 3, 1942, she was married to Art Schmidt, who survives.

Additional survivors include brother-in-law Gordon Dyck of Estes Park, Colo.; son-in-law Verlin Bartel of Kansas City; son Archie and wife Kristin Schmidt of Peabody; daughter Ada and husband Wes Schmidt-Tieszen of Newton; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made in Ruth Schmidt’s memory to Bethel College or Menno­nite Central Committee and sent in care of Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St., Newton, KS 67114.

• Valentin templado tandoc jr., a urologist of Newton, died Aug. 30.

He was married to Bon­nie, who survives. He also is survived by three children.
