• KENNETH
“Ken” BARKMAN,
84, a retired milkman of Loveland, Colo., died Oct. 26 in Loveland.

The memorial service was Friday, Oct. 28, at All­nutt Funeral Home, Love­land. Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 30.

He was born July 21, 1932, in Hillsboro to Thomas and Helen (Jost) Barkman. On April 8, 1955, he was married to Beverly “Bev” Aultman, who predeceased him.

He is survived by children Lawrence (Steph­anie) Barkman of Loveland, Phillip (Stephanie) of Long­mont and Janet (Rich) Noterman of Erie, Colo., and five grandchildren. He also is survived by brother Jerry Barkman of Oregon, sisters Joan Siemens of Kansas and Judi Unruh of Texas.

• jon farrell gard, 74, a referee for high school and college basketball for more than 35 years, died Nov. 7 at his home in Peabody.

The service is at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Peabody United Methodist Church, 403 N. Sycamore St., Peabody. Burial will be at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m., also at Peabody United Methodist Church.

Born March 11, 1942, Ralph and Thelma Gard were his parents. On Aug. 27, 1966, he was married to Carolyn Truax, who survives.

Other survivors include sister Carol Sue and Larry Schoenfeld; daughters Becky and Crystal and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to The Hub or Peabody Senior Center and sent in care of Baker Funeral Home, 114 Sycamore, Peabody, KS 66866.

• ginger m. ledford, 58, died Nov. 6 at her residence in Hillsboro.

Cremation has taken place. Services will be announced by Zeiner Fu­neral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion, at a future time.

• evan c. rath II, 82, a labor maintenance analyst for the state of Kansas, died Nov. 6 at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.

Cremation has taken place, and a private service is planned by the family.

He was born Feb. 5, 1934, to Evan C. and Thelma T. (Bache) Rath at Marion.

Survivors include sister Rhonda Brenzikofer of Marion and extended family.

• floyd schanfeld, 94, of Hillsboro, died Nov. 7 at Newton Medical Center.

The service is at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14 at Haven of Rest Cemetery one mile east of Hillsboro.

He was born May 30, 1922, to Theo and Clara (Alvin) Schanfeld at Elma, Iowa. On Sept. 22, 1945, he was married to Edna Winner, who survives.

Other survivors include daughters Lila (Floyd) Kemph of Newton and Lee (Jim) Foley of California; brother Lloyd (Mildred) Schanfeld of Charles City, Iowa; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

• Lee m. unruh, 89, formerly of Hillsboro and a rural mail carrier, died Nov. 5 at Newton.

The service is at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Hills­boro United Methodist Church, 905 East D St., with pastor Brad Penner officiating.

He was born June 20, 1927, to Sam J. and Mary (Wall) Unruh at Anthony. On June 27, 1952, he was married to Joyce Balzer, who predeceased him in 2015.

Survivors include sons Michael (Trudy) Unruh of Hesston, Kelly (Luz) Unruh of Wichita; daughter Lori (Tom) Lohrenz of Wichita; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
