• amanda ewert, 96, former office secretary at Hills­boro Mennonite Breth­ren Church, died May 17 at Parkside Homes, Hills­bo­ro.

The service will be at 3 p.m. June 27 at Hillsboro Men­nonite Brethren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe.

She was born April 20, 1920, to Tobias and Mary (Thomas) Deckert at Marion, S.D. On Oct. 22, 1943, she was married to John Ewert, who predeceased her in 2004.

Survivors include son Al and wife Ruth Ewert of Wichita; daughters Eldora and husband Richard Pen­ner of McPherson, Rachel and husband Steven Beh­rends of Overland Park; 11 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.

• Doris ewert, 98, a retired bookkeeper, of Marion, died May 19 at the Marion Assisted Living Center.

A celebration of life service will be Sunday, June 5, at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, 105 Eastmoor Dr., Marion.

She was born Jan. 4, 1918, to Glenn and Lucy (Pierce) Kline of Marion. On Aug. 10, 1941, she was married to Harold L. Ewert, who predeceased her in March 2001.

Survivors include Max and wife Gerri Ewert of Marion, Donna and husband Jerome Hajek of Marion, Gene and wife Kathy Ewert of Neodesha, Gary and wife Elaine Ewert of Ma­ri­on and daugh­ter-in-law Linda Ewert of Billings, Mont.; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

• Samuel g. Johnson, 79, a retired farmer, died May 13 at The Cedars in Mc­Pherson.

The service was at 2 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Ol­son’s Mortuary, 139 N. Main, Canton.

Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery in Saline County near Linds­borg.

He was born Feb. 18, 1937, to Arthur W. and Beulah (Smith) Johnson in rural Sa­line County. His wife, Lois, survives.

Other survivors include brother Raymond Johnson of McPherson; sister Joyce and husband Jim Staggs of Lindsborg; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

• linda j. regier, 64, of Omaha, Neb., and a Tabor College graduate in 1974, died May 20.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Stockham Community Church in Stockham, Neb., with pastor Paul Nauman officiating.

A private family burial will be at Stockham Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 21, 1952 in Henderson, Neb. to Marvin L. and Elda Quiring Peters. On Dec. 16, 1973, she was married to Allen Regier, who survives.

Other survivors include sons Andrew and wife Tina Regier and Tyler of Overland Park and Jeffrey and wife Jessica Regier and Blake of Lincoln, Neb.; her parents; brothers Michael and wife Ruth Peters of Hampton, Neb., and Kevin Joe and wife Robin Peters of Santa Monica, Calif.; sister Treva and husband Gene Uppal of North Platte, Neb.; and nieces and nephews.

• susie schmidt, 103, of Goessel, died May 22, at Bethesda Home, Goessel.

A graveside service is at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.

Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. at Bethesda Home, Goessel.

She was born Feb. 5, 1913, at Goessel. Her husband, Al, predeceased her after 71 years.

Survivors include children Janice and husband Howard Sivertson, Bob and wife Sylvia Schmidt, and Larry and wife Anita Schmidt; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
