Ava Ballew

Ava C. Ballew, 96, a licensed beautician, died Monday, May 11, at Via Christi-St. Francis in Wichita.

Services were held Friday, May 15, at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion with pastor Larry King officiating. Burial was at Old Mission Cemetery in Wichita.

She was born Jan. 20, 1913, to William H. and Lucy C. (Hamilton) Halling in Hanston. On Dec. 27, 1943, she was married to James Edward Ballew, who predeceased her.

Survivors include daughter Deana and Larry Olsen of Marion; sister Bonnie and Jack Brown of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren

Memorials may be made to Parkside Homes Activity Fund in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion KS 66861.


Junior Unruh

Junior W. ?JR? Unruh, 76, a grocery store manager, died Friday, May 15, at Hospice House in Hutchinson.

Services were held Tuesday, May 19, at Elliott Chapel in Hutchinson with pastor Kim Biery presiding. Burial was at Luray Cemetery in Luray.

He was born June 3, 1932, to Wesley H. and Ellen Pankratz Unruh of Durham. On June 6, 1954, he was married to Shirley A. Petty, who survives.

Others survivors include son Rod L. and Tracey Unruh of Sioux City, Iowa; daughter Kristi A. and Scott DeVault of Hutchinson; brother Ronald Unruh of Durham and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County or American Cancer Society and sent in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
