• ruth elizabeth (ewert) harder, 95, died Thursday, May 12, at Newton.

The service is at 11 a.m. May 23 at Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton.

She was born on Dec. 9, 1920, to Bertha and John Ewert in rural Hillsboro. On Aug. 23, 1946, she was married to Ernst Harder, who predeceased her in 1995.

Survivors include children Trudy Harder (Carlos Rauschert), Rich and wife Rosie Harder, Margie and Ernst Wiens, and Robert Cindy Harder; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

• bernice k. harvey, 98, of Potwin, a farm wife and homemaker, died May 14 at Pres­byterian Manor at Newton.

The service was May 17 at the Potwin Christian Church. Burial will be at Walnut Valley Cemetery, El Dorado.

She was born to Walter and Hattie (Goodrich) Abplanalpin in Butler Coun­ty near Peabody. On Sept. 25, 1935, she was married to Fred Harvey, who predeceased her.

Survivors include son Lloyd and wife Barbara Harvey of Potwin; sister Lois Ingram of Tampa, Fla; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

• charles e. heiser, 88, of Ramona, died May 10 at Salem Home of Hillsboro.

The service was at 10:30 a.m. May 13 at Strassburg Baptist Church, Marion.

Burial was at Lewis Ce­me­tery, Ramona.

He was born Oct. 30, 1927, to John and Mary (Kleiber) Heiser at his family farm outside of Ramona. On Sept. 1, 1949, he was married to Ruth B Skibbe, who survives.

Other survivors include son Mark and wife Kathy Heiser of Ramona; three grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; brother John and wife Lucille Heiser of Herington.

• Lavern victor loewens, 96, of Hesston, an administrator at Parkside Homes, died April 19, at the Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

The service is at 2 p.m. May 22 at Hesston Men­no­n­ite Brethren Church.

He was born April 22, 1920, to Henry and Marie (Benzler) Loewens in Mc­Clus­ky, N.D. On June 2, 1944, he was married to Amanda Klassen, who predeceased him.

Survivors include daughters Marabeth and Allen Busenitz of West Lafayette, Ind., and Rosemary and Richard Prieb of Hesston; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

• margaret morgan, 86, of Burns, a farm wife and bus driver, died May 15 at Asbury Park, Newton.

All services will be at the Christian Church of Flo­rence. The funeral is at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 19. Burial will be at Burns Ce­me­tery.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday.

She was born Dec. 24, 1929, to Augustus and Vida (Strange) Bishoff at Burns. On Aug. 28, 1947, she was married to Ivan R. Morgan, who survives.

Other survivors include sons Micheal and Beverly Jean Morgan of Burns, Larry and Delores Morgan of Hesston, Richard and Kristi Morgan of Mound­ridge and Rodney and Robin Morgan of Burns; sister Katherine Otte of Hering­ton; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

• norma elaine penner, 87, of San Jose, Calif., formerly of Hillsboro, died April 25.

A memorial service will be June 4 at the Lincoln Glen Church, 2700 Booksin Ave., San Jose, Calif.

She was born May 11, 1928, to Ben and Esther Funk at Hillsboro. Her husband, Louis J. Penner, predeceased her.

Survivors include sons Den­nis and wife Judy Pen­ner and Daryl Penner; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and broth­er Monroe Funk.
