• allen a. abbott, 82, of Marion, with a career in U.S. Army and after retiring with the U.S. Postal Service, died May, 8 at St. Luke Living Center in Marion.

Services were May 12, and burial was at the Abi­lene Cemetery, Abilene.

He was born Oct. 27, 1935, to James and Aliene Roberts Abbott Hargrave at Poplar Bluff, Mo. On April 13, 1957, he was married to Judy Haefner. On Feb. 2, 1998, he was married to Bernice Ilene Davis, who predeceased him.

Survivors include children Kym (Troy) Thomp­­son of Marion, Glen (Lisa) of Rosehill, James (Linda) of Lawton, Okla., and Michele of Hutchinson; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; step-children Chris, Kim, Lisa, Curt and Julie and brother John (Rita) Abbott of Kan­sas City.

• ruth caselman, 94, Marion City librarian from 1963-65, died May 6 at New Dawn Memory Care at Colorado Springs, Colo.

The funeral was May 15 at Marion Christian Church. Burial was at Beloit.

She was born April 30, 1923, to Jim and Mabel (Griffin) Heeler at Beloit. On Oct. 20, 1942, she was married to William (Bill) Caselman, who predeceased her.

Survivors include daughters Cheryl Loomer of Cas­per, Wyo., Carol Maggard of Marion and Linda (Jim) Souturas of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter-in-law Diane Caselman of Grand Junction, Colo.; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

• nora lorene (schmidt) richter, 92, of Marion, a seamstress at Ratzlaff Draperies, died May 5 at St. Luke Assisted Living in Marion.

She was born Jan. 15, 1925, to Samuel H. and Justine (Hiebert) Schmidt near Goessel. On Dec. 3, 1946, she was married to Kenneth Richter, who predeceased her June 6, 1988.

Survivors include son Marshall Richter of Hills­boro; a grandson; sister-in-law Esta Hall of Burns; brother-in-law Leo­nard Lindholm of Mulvane, nieces and nephews, and friends.

• kenneth r. thomas, 79, of Canton, died May 7 at Pine Village, Moundridge.

The service was May 13 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Canton. Bur­ial was at Canton Township Cemetery.

He was born May 7, 1938, to Daniel J. and Lisbeth L. (Hamm) Thomas at Goessel.

On Aug. 10, 1958, he was married to Judith E. Heim, who survives.

He also is survived by daughter Julie Carbonneau of Canton; brothers Larry (Patsy) of Destin, Fla., and Don (Karen) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, sister Joan (Jay) Fortner of McPherson; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

• carolyn b. woerz, 84, died May 10 at Marion Assisted Living in Marion.

She was born Aug. 4, 1932, to Richard and Claudia Bernice (Walthall) Hoffman at Kansas City. On Nov. 15, 1953, she was married to Warren Woerz, who predeceased her.

Survivors include son Ron and wife Carol; one granddaughter and one great-grandson; son-in-law Pat Moore and wife Jandee; sisters Elaine Mather of Prairie Village and Nadyne Klempnauer of Kingwood, Texas; sister-in-law Norma Woerz and nieces, nephews and friends.
