• ruth e. neufeld, 93, a missionary and homemaker, died May 5 at Newton Medical Center.
The service was at 11 a.m. Monday, May 9, at Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church with pastor Jerred Unruh officiating. Burial was at Ebenfeld Cemetery.
She was born July 17, 1922, to Dietrich and Marie (Krause) Heidebrecht at Hillsboro. On June 3, 1945, she was married to Alvin H. Neufeld, who predeceased her in 2011.
Survivors include sons Philip and wife Vicki of Charlotte, N.C., Stanley and Carla of McPherson; daughters Phebe Goldsmith of Springfield, Mo., and Naomi Jeanne and husband Harold Wiebe of Newton, Becky and husband John Wall of Selma, Calif.; sister Elfrieda Fast of Hillsboro; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

• galen douglas peterson, 72, owner and operator of the Herington Sale Barn, died May 4 at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.
The service was at 2 p.m. Monday, May 9, at the Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick, with pastor Bill Peterson officiating. Burial followed at Hebron Lutheran Cemetery.
He was born March 24, 1944, to Norman F. and Edna A. (Rindt) Peterson at Lost Springs. On Oct. 23, 1993, he was married to Janis T. Taylor, who survives.
Other survivors include son Ty and wife Amber Peterson of Tampa; daughter Trisha and husband Rick Ohnemiller of Caldwell; sister Gloria Martin of Lost Springs and five grandchildren.
