Leeland Crawford

 

Leeland M. Crawford, 71, a self-employed construction worker, died Wednesday, July 1, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Chapel, 918 Seventh St., Clay Center, with pastor Gerald Martin officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center. Visitation was from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 6, at the funeral home.

He was born Dec. 6, 1937, to George R. and Lottie Mae (Bergman) Crawford, in Clay Center. In March 1977, he was married to Lillian Brown Stutz, who predeceased him in 2008.

Survivors include sons Robert and Cheryl Crawford of Clyde and Randy and Lori Lalouette Crawford of Marion; daughter Janet and Robert Craft of Marion; brothers Loun Crawford, Lawrence Crawford, Lowell Crawford and Mikey Crawford, all of Clay Center; sisters Lois Lee of California and Lela Eye of Missouri; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

David Duerksen

 

David Henry Duerksen, 67, educator and coach, died Thursday, June 30, in Reedley, Calif.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 13, at Reedley Cemetery Pavilion and continue at 11 a.m. at the Reedley Menno?nite Brethren Church.

He was born in 1954 to Elmer and Marie Duerksen of Hillsboro.

Survivors include wife, Sharon; children Denae and Steve Hansen of Clovis and Mark and Candice Duerksen of Trace, Calif.; brother Bill Duerksen and sister Kathy Kroeker, both of San Jose, Calif.; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Ira Hein

 

Ira W. Hein, 86, a farmer and rancher, died Wednesday, July 1, at Via Christi St. Francis Burn Unit in Wichita.

Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, July 6, at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church with pastor Dave Plett officiating. A private family burial followed.

Visitation was from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe.

He was born Dec. 8, 1922, to Henry W. and Tina (Duerksen) Hein, in rural Hillsboro. On March 14, 1944, he was married to Hilda Suderman, who predeceased him in 2005.

Survivors include son Rodney and Susan Hein of rural Hillsboro; brother Emice Hein, rural Hillsboro; sister Viola Reeves; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Anna Klenda

 

Anna P. (Dvorak) Klenda, 95, a farmwife, formerly of Lincolnville, died Friday, July 3, at Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center in Salina.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, at Holy Family Parish, St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen. Rosary will be at 10 a.m.

Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion. Burial will be in the Pilsen Cemetery.

She was born June 29, 1914, to Joseph W. and Barbara C. (Gladowski) Dvorak in Marion County. Her husband, Louis B. Klenda, predeceased her.

Survivors include children Clara Williams of Salina, Carol and Ron Peters of Midwest, Okla. and Art and Marie Klenda of Salina; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Jerold Vogt

 

Jerold W. Vogt, 63, a business owner and grocer, died Sunday, July 5, in Hillsboro.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe, Hillsboro, with pastors Dave Plett and Clint Seibel officiating. Burial will precede the service at 10 a.m. at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro.

He was born Sept. 21, 1945, to John F. and Fern Vogt in Goessel. On Sept. 5, 1965, he was married to Karleen (Regier) Vogt, who survives.

Other survivors include mother Fern Vogt Unruh of Hillsboro; sons Todd and Shawna Vogt of Hillsboro and John Vogt of Norton; sister Joanne and Harvey Foyle of Emporia and four grandchildren.
