? florence helen friesen, 93,

a hospital cook, died Feb. 1 in Hillsboro.

Services were Feb. 7 at First Mennonite Church, 102 S. Ash St., Hillsboro. Burial will be at Haven of Rest Cemetery in rural Hillsboro.

She was born June 15, 1917, to John Martin and Mary Elizabeth Hein Franzen in Oologah, Okla. On Nov. 21, 1941. she was married to Ted Friesen, who predeceased her.

Survivors include sons Richard and Anita Friesen of Hutchinson and Jay and Bonnie Friesen of Magnolia, Texas; daughter Susan and Harold Schultz of Hillsboro; sister Ruby Jane Couts of Hemet, Calif.; five grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

? Mildred elizabeth (kennedy) Karnowski, 89,

elementary school teacher and missionary teacher of Hillsboro, died Jan. 26.

Services were Feb. 1 at Hillsboro United Methodist Church with pastor Charles Grant officiating. Burial was at Lorraine Baptist Cemetery in Lorraine.

She was born Dec. 21, 1921, to William and Salma (Barchent) Granada in Hillsboro. In 1945, she was married to Lyle Henry Kennedy, who predeceased her in 2008.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte A. (Kennedy) and Yasuhiro Takahashi of Hillsboro and Toyko, Japan.

? Alvin h. neufeld, 90,

a missionary and pastor, died Feb. 4 at Newton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 10 at Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church, rural Hillsboro, with pastor Gaylord Goertzen officiating. Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ebenfeld Cemetery in rural Hillsboro. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the church.

He was born March 14, 1920, to John J. and Pauline (Karber) Neufeld in Balko, Okla. On June 3, 1945, he was married to Ruth E. Heidebrecht, who survives.

Other survivors include sons Philip and Vicki Neufeld of Charlotte, N.C., and Stan and Carla Neufeld of McPherson; daughters Phoebe Goldsmith of Springfield, Mo., Naomi Jeanne and Harold Wiebe of Newton and Rebecca and John Wall of Selma, Calif.; 26 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

a homemaker, died Feb. 1 in Hillsboro.

Services were Feb. 7 at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro, with pastor Roy Keller officiating. Burial was at Gnadenau Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.

She was born Oct. 16. 1913, to John T. Ediger and Margaret (Esau) Ediger in rural Buhler. On Feb. 13, 1938, she was married to Sam Thiessen, who predeceased her.

Survivors include sons Richard and Evelyn Thiessen of Fresno, Calif., and Leon and Karen Thiessen of Santa Maria, Calif.; daughters Leona and Elmer Friesen of Hillsboro; Norma and Bob Johnson of Denver, Colo., and Betty and Harlan Graf of Sedalia, Colo.; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
