Deaths (Dec. 5, 2010)


• Jessie Lee Gerber, 95,

a homemaker, formerly of Hillsboro, died Thursday, Dec. 9, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

Services were Dec. 11 at the Chapel of Garden Valley Retirement Village, Garden City. Burial was Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

She was born May 6, 1915, to Robert Lee and Anna (Costello) Chrisman in Olathe. On Feb. 7, 1943, she was married to Ernest B. Gerber, who predeceased her Feb. 28, 1989.

Survivors include six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Garden Valley Retirement Village or to the Emmaus House and sent in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. Seventh St., Garden City, KS 67846-5594, in charge of arrangements.

• michael dale ragland, 58,

a truck driver of Marion, died Nov. 30.

Services were Dec. 4 in Dickson, Tenn. A celebration of his life was Dec. 11 at the Marion County Lake Hall.

He was born Aug. 20, 1952, to Marshall and Mary Jean Clymer Ragland in Nashville, Tenn. On Dec. 6, 1991, he was married to Cindy Bridges Ragland, who survives.

Other survivors include children Michael and Jeannie Ragland and Misty Ragland of Nashville, and Marshall Ragland and Mitchell Ragland, both of Marion; brothers Steven and Penny Ragland of Nash­ville, David Ragland of Charlotte, Tenn., Randall and Glenda Ragland and Daryl Rag­land, all of Kingston Springs, Tenn., and one grandson.

Memorials may be made to an education fund established for Marshall and Mitchell Ragland and sent in care of Central National Bank, 231 E. Main St., Marion, KS 66861-1627.
