Justina Nikkel

 

Justina Nikkel, 97, a homemaker, died Aug. 7, at Moundridge Manor.

Services were Monday at Zion Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Inman, with pastors Maynard Koehn and Gregg Johnson officiating. Burial was at Zion Church Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 5, 1911, to Isaac K. Friesen and Elizabeth Warkentin Friesen,in Lehigh. On July 30, 1933, she was married to Ben L. Nikkel, who predeceased her.

Other survivors include sons Stanley and Judy Nikkel of Windom and Leroy and Carol Nikkel of Madrid, Neb.; daughters Lillian and James Hiebert of Hillsboro and Betty and Dale Ensz of Inman; 18 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Moundridge Manor and sent in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N. Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.

 

Fred Podszus

 

Fred Podszus, 94, died Aug. 5 at St. Luke Living Center in Marion.

Funeral service were Aug. 10 at St. John?s Lutheran Church of Lincolnville with the Rev. Stahlecker officiating. Interment will be in the Lincolnville Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 8, 1914, to Franz and Helen (Albrecht) Podszus in Enid, Okla.. On Sept. 22, 1940, he was married to Viola Nuss, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include sons Rodney of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Stephen of Lincolnville, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established for the church in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 6, Marion, KS 66861.

Dennis D. Youk, 78, a farmer in the Durham area, died Aug. 6, at Memorial Hospital in McPherson.

Services were held Aug. 10, at Holy Family Parish, St. Mark?s Church in Marion. Burial was at Marion Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 24, 1930, to Jonathan ?Jack? and Nina (Jones) Youk in McPherson. On Oct. 4, 1955, he married Dorothy Sandwell, who survives.

Other survivors are daughter Teresa and Kevin Harris of Roeland Park; sons Jeff and Cathey of Wichita; Justin and Wendy of Marion; and Jarrod and Marla of Paola; three grandchildren and a sister-in-law Lee Youk of Newport, Wash.

Memorials may be made to Holy Family Parish, St. Mark?s Church in Marion or Marion City Library and sent in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 6, Marion, KS 66861.
