◼ Edward “ed” Barnett, 74, retired AMPI milk maintenance technician who served Marion County for almost 30 years, died Saturday, Aug 4.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10 at Porter Cemetery.

Visitation with family will be 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10 at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary, Clearwater.

Survivors include children, Tara Barnett, Marion, Randi (Terry) Priest, Manhattan, Andrew and Elizabeth Schaefer, Lyons; sisters, Donna Woods, Haysville, Betty McCaghren, Tulsa, OK; 5 grandchildren.

◼ Alice edna bartel, 92, former missionary and long time resident of Marion County, died Aug. 3 at Salem Home in Hillsboro.

Private family services will be held.

She was born Sept. 28, 1925, to Daniel and Katherine (Ediger) Wiens in Marion County.

In September 1948 she married Jonathan Bartel in Marion County.

Survivors include sons, Daniel Bartel of Minneapolis, Minn., Stanley Bartel of Salida, Colo.; daughter, Gloria Combs of Mesquite, Texas; brothers, Ernest Wiens of Hillsboro, Emerson Wiens of North Newton; sister, Doris Guhr of Hillsboro; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
