n John e. shofe, JR, 85, formerly of Hillsboro, KS, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2019.

Family Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 29, at Broadway Mortuary, 1147 S. Broadway in Wichita.

Survivors include his wife, Elsa Shofe; sons, John Shofe III, Tom Shofe, and David Shofe (Sharon); sister, Irene Patton; grandchildren, Jennifer, Aaron, and Trevor.

n Ruth Ann Schmidt, 81, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at her Newton residence.

A memorial service was at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2019, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton with The Reverend Ron Rather presiding.

Private family interment took place.

Memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Grand Central Senior Center both in care of Petersen Funeral Home.

She was born November 1, 1937, in Goessel, Kansas to Walter J. and Anna E. (Hiebert) Schmidt. On November 15, 1957, she married Adolph D. Smith at Lehigh, Kansas and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1988. She later married Adolf D. Schmidt and he also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sisters Delores E. Peterson and Gladys M. Downen both of Newton; brother LeRoy Schmidt of Rural Hillsboro, Kansas. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

n Clara “lou” roberts, 82, died March 26, 2019, in Newton, KS.

Visitation was Friday, March 28, 2019, at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion, KS.

Funeral Service was Saturday March 29, 2019 at the Marion Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to Marion Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.

n Norman ensz, 90, died on March 30, 2019, at Hillsboro Community Hospital.

A Celebration of Life Service on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Hillsboro United Methodist Church in Hillsboro officiated by Pastor Lori Schwilling.

Interment will be at 10 a.m. at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren cemetery in Hillsboro.

He was born on November 14, 1928, in Inman to Abe and Margaret (Nikkel) Ensz. He married Dorothy Janzen September 1, 1952 in Hillsboro.

Survivors include: wife, Dorothy (Dot) Ensz of Hillsboro; son, Randy Ensz of Hillsboro; daughter, Joni (Terry) Ens of Wichita; brothers, Leo (Vonni) Ensz of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Willie (Marilyn) Ensz of Rural Hillsboro; sister-in-law, Bea Ensz of Topeka; 4 granddaughters and 1 great-granddaughter.
