• Douglas R. Druse, 53, a director of radiology, of Melbourne, Fla., died Dec. 17.

Graveside services were Dec. 28 at Marion Cemetery. Visitation with family is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27.

He was born Jan. 4, 1957, to Charles and Patricia DeWitt Druse.

Survivors include children Danielle, Christopher and Joshua Druse, all of Melbourne; sister Anita Druse of Topeka and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to the J.J. Druse Education Fund and sent in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St, Marion, KS, 66861.

• Anita Irene Elam, 53, a postal employee, formerly of Lehigh, died Dec. 20 at her home in Henrietta, Mo.

Services were Dec. 23 at Thurman Funeral Home, 507 E. Main St., Richmond, Mo.

Burial will be at Elmira Cemetery, northeast of Lawson, Mo., at a later date.

She was born June 20, 1957, to Bobbie Dowell and Shirley Jean (Jones) Elam in Cameron, Mo.

Survivors include her mother of Lawson, Mo.; sons Bobbie Dean and Rita Elam of Overland Park and James Michael Heath and fiancée Jessika Ramirez of Lakewood, Colo.; daughter Michelle and Scott Flaming of Hesston; brothers Larry and Christine Elam of Warsaw, Mo., and Tommy Elam of Fort Worth, Texas; sister Carol and Garry Weekley of Fort Worth; stepsons Kent and Lynn Mai of Goessel and Matthew Mai of Great Bend; stepdaughters Kristi and Matt Mason of Gladstone, Mo., and Audrey and Troy Siebert of Levant; three grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.

Thurman Funeral Home, 507 E. Main St., Richmond, MO 64085 was in charge of arrangements.

Susan Schmidt, 103, a homemaker, of Newton, died Dec. 25. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 30 at Tabor Mennonite Church, 891 Chisholm Trail, rural Newton. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow at Tabor Church Cemetery. Jost Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Hillsboro, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born July 19, 1907, to John A. and Elizabeth Unruh in Goessel. On Oct. 26, 1926, she was married to Nickolia Schmidt, who predeceased her.

She is survived by children Julia and Willard Regier of rural Moundridge, Susan and Walden Duerksen of rural Hillsboro, Nancy Schmidt of rural Buhler and Delome and Jerol Schmidt and Rita Sperry, all of rural Newton; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 15 great- great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Tabor Church in her name and sent to Tabor Mennonite Church 891 Chisholm Trail Newton KS, 67114.

Jost Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Hillsboro KS 67063-1727, was in charge of arrangements.

• Earl R Schroeder, 83, a farmer and ag employee , died Dec. 21 at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

Services were Dec. 28 at Newton Bible Church, 900 Old Main, with pastor Ted Veer officiating.

He was born Oct. 19, 1927, to David J. and Anna (Krause) Schroeder in Goessel. He was married to Racine Smith in 1946, who predeceased him. He later married Esther Fast in 1952, who survives.

Other survivors include sons James and Julene Schroeder of Whitewater, Kenneth and Peggy Schroeder of Hillsboro and Darrel and Venita Schroeder of Newton; sisters Ann and Art Boese of Goessel, Lois and Ralph Janzen of Goessel and Jean and Rudy Newfield of Peabody; brother Ivan and Kathy Schroeder of Newton; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Newton Bible School or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and sent in care of Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St., Newton, KS 67114-3493, also in charge of arrangements.
