??HARRY J. HERBEL, 86, retired owner and operator of Surplus City and other businesses in the area, died April 14 at Herington Municipal Hospital, Herington.

The service was April 20 at St. Mark Chapel, Walnut and B streets, Herington, with pastor Lorenzo Jackson officiating.

He was born July 9, 1928, to Fred and Anna L. (Sauer) Herbel at Herington. On May 15, 1955, he was married to Patsy Miller, who predeceased him in 1958.

On Aug. 23, 1959, he was married to Joyce DeBus, who predeceased him Feb. 25, 1986.

Survivors include son Jerry and wife Cindy Herbel of Mesa, Ariz.; daughters Jane Brown of Hillsboro, Jeannie Jo and husband Wade Caselman of Salina and Julia Gartrell of El Cajon, Calif.; sister Virginia Phelps of Herington; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

? JEAN JOST, 84, an interior finisher died April 15 at Hillsboro.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro, with pastors Brian Allan and Loyal Martin officiating.

Visitation with family is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro.

She was born July 12, 1930, to Sam and Marie (Bartel) Neufeld at Dalhart, Texas. On June 4, 1950, she was married to Kenney Jost, who survives.

Other survivors include sons Dallas and wife Paula Jost of rural Hillsboro and K.C. and Lesa Jost of rural Marion; daughter Bev and husband Wade Knust of rural Peabody; sister Sue and husband Lloyd Vogt of rural Newton; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

? KEVIN B. ROBERTS, 56, died April 15 at Newton Medical Center at Newton.

The service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at Newton Church of the Brethren with pastor Laura Snyder officiating.

A private burial will be at Lenora Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

He was born May 21, 1958, to Ted and Marjorie (Stephenson) Roberts at Garden City.

Survivors include sisters Debbie Bradley of Minneapolis and Jeanette Roberts of Overland Park; significant other Marsha Kientz of Newton; her children Mitchell and Lynn Kientz of El Dorado and Wendy and Robert Gibson of Peabody; two nieces; three nephews; five great-nieces and nephews and Kietnz?s four grandchildren.

? RUTH DUERKSEN REMPEL, 93, of Marion County and Fresno, Calif., died March 21.

A graveside service was March 30 at Belmont Memorial Park, Fresno, with pastor Ed Willems of Bethany Mennonite Brethren Church officiating.

She was born Sept. 10, 1921, to Cornelius C. Duerksen and Mary Funk on a farm west of Lehigh. On Oct. 18, 1946, she was married to Abraham A. Rempel, who predeceased her Feb. 12, 1975.

Survivors include son Clinton and wife Betsy Rempel of Lakewood, Calif.; brother Clarence Duerksen and sister Mariann Unruh, both of Hillsboro; other brothers Erwin and Jacob and sisters Tina, Myrtle and Selma and 11 nieces and nephews.

? HERB STROTKAMP, 85, printer who worked at several newspapers, of Burns, died April 20 at St. Luke Living Center at Marion.

The service is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at Holy Family Parish St. Patrick Catholic Church, Florence. Rosary is at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be at Burns Cemetery.

Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion.

He was born May 26, 1929, to Edward and Lucy Weber Strotkamp at Burns.

Survivors include a sister Marcella Gordon of Salina and nieces and nephews.
