DEATH: Donald E. Hiebert

Donald E. Hiebert, 88, died on March 18, 2020, at Bethesda Home in Goessel.

A Memorial Service will be held for Donald E. Hiebert, of rural Goessel, on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The service will be held at the Preparatory School on the Goessel Mennonite Heritage and Agriculture Museum grounds.

The service will be held at 4 p.m. and masks are required.

Friends may visit from 3-4 p.m. prior to the service and following the service, they may join the family for a meal.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Donald E. Hiebert Memorial Scholarship, to be used as an ag scholarship through the Goessel High School, in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, P.O. Box 96, Goessel, KS 67053.

He was born on October 9, 1931, in Goessel, Kansas, to John J. and Rose (Penner) Hiebert. He grew up on the family farm attending Maple Grove country school and graduating from Goessel High School with the Class of 1949.

On May 25, 1957, he was united in marriage to Jane Klassen at the First United Presbyterian Church in Halstead, Kansas. Together they built a life on the family farm raising their three children and passing down his knowledge of farming and raising cattle. He remained on the farm helping with chores when he was able until June 2019 when his health declined and he moved into Bethesda Home.

Don is survived by his son Keven Hiebert and wife Debra of Goessel; daughter Natalie Hiebert of Tribune; daughter Marjean Deines and husband Chad of WaKeeney; granddaughter Lauren Hiebert; and sister-in-laws, Katie Klassen and Jo Larson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jane; brothers, Allen and Jim, sister, Elaine Unrau.
