Dale Makovec (left) helps hold the banner presented to his son Simon as part of a ?welcome home? for four local members of the Kansas National Guard Unit that recently returned from combat duty in Iraq. The presentations were made at a ceremony hosted by American Legion Post 366 in Hillsboro following the Marion County Fair parade on Wednesday. In addition to a banner, the four Guardsmen each received a lucky coin and a certificate for a year?s free membership to Post 366. Joining Makovec among the honorees were Pete Richert of Hillsboro and brothers Zachary and Jeffrey Linn.
