The Hillsboro Wrestling Club will be having a mandatory information and sign-up night for parents of potential participants at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the technology lecture hall at Hillsboro High School.
Entering its 15th year, the HWC is open to all children age 5 through 16. The cost is $30 for one wrestler in a family, $50 for two in a family and $70 for three or more. The money goes to USA Wrestling to cover the cost of membership, which includes a secondary insurance for each wrestler.
Last year the program drew 35 wrestlers and four certified coaches. This year the certified coaches are Scott O?Hare, Shawn Edwards and Robbie Delk. Assisting them will be Mark King, Cameron Reimer, Jayson Hanschu and Bill Simhiser.
?We are always looking for people interested in helping us with our younger wrestlers,? said O?Hare, club leader and head coach.
The first practice will be Monday, Nov. 17. Practice for all participants will begin at 6:30 p.m. The younger and beginning wrestlers will finish at 7:15 and the more advanced wrestlers will practice to 8 p.m.
Competitive wrestlers will have a second practice most weeks on Thursday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
