Local student wins concerto competition

Karoline Cherenkov, a sophomore at Hillsboro Middle High School, won the Anderson Concerto Competition held on Nov. 7 in Hutchinson. By winning the competition, she has the privilege of performing her concerto movement with the Hutchinson Symphony Orchestra on their Dec. 12 concert. Cherenkov performed the third movement from Prokofiev’s first piano concerto. She currently studies piano with Dr. Sheila Litke at Tabor College.

“Karoline has worked very hard at learning and perfecting this very difficult piece. I am very proud of her hard work and am thrilled she will have the opportunity to perform with an orchestra”, said Litke.

Cherenkov is the daughter of Michael and Nina Cherenkov.
