Holub deployed to Afghanistan

Sgt. Molly Holub was recently deployed to Afghanistan for a one year tour.

Holub, a 2004 graduate of Marion High School and her bomb-sniffing dog, Jody, are stationed in the Kabul area.

According to information from family members, Holub has done two previous tours in Iraq as a military police officer.

Her first tour was as a Humvee turret gunner. About two-thirds through that tour, she was wounded by an improvised explosive device and lost her left eye.

Following the incident, she managed to stay in the U.S. Army in a combat-related field.

She was then qualified as a specialized search dog handler and redeployed to Iraq for a second tour in 2009.

?Molly and her dog are inseparable,? said her father, Dan Holub. ?When transferring from Virginia to Colorado, she stopped by home for a week with her dog. He became one of the family, behaving like a typical house dog.?

Holub has made her address available for anyone who would like to write her. It is: Sgt. Molly Holub, 202D MP CO, 504th MP BN KAF, APO AE 09355.
