Library accepting book donations

 

The Hillsboro Public Library is accepting book donations for its upcoming book sale at the end of September.

Only books in good condition will be accepted. Popular items include children?s books, Westerns and cookbooks.

Proceeds from the book sale will help purchase new materials for the library.

Whitewater to host Bunco Tournament

 

The Whitewater Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Bunco Tournament during Whitewater?s Fall Festival.

The tournament will be held Saturday, Oct. 6 at Remington Middle School in Whitewater.

Area Bunco players are invited to compete. Registration deadline is Sept. 22.

Goessel library begins Storytime

 

The Goessel Public Library Storytime has begun.

The program for preschool-age children takes place at 10:30 a.m. on Fridays from September to April.

Storytime consists of stories, activities and crafts. The program is free.

 

 

GCWA to hold final meeting Sept. 24

 

The Goessel Women?s Christian Association will hold its final meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24 at the Bethes?da Board Room in Goessel.

The program will include a history of GWCA as well as a time of sharing.

All community women are invited to attend.

 

Card Shower for Leona Widler

 

A card shower is planned for Leona Widler to honor her 103rd birthday, Thursday, Sept. 13.

Friends and family are invited to send cards to her at Legacy Park, 407 N. Locust, Room 17, Peabody, KS, 66866.

 

MOPs to hold Fun Night Sept. 18

 

Mothers of Preschoolers will hold a Fun Night from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church.

Celebrate Hope to hold event Sept. 24

 

Celebrate Hope will hold a celebration event at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24 at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.

The event will include worship led by Alden Dick, special music by Loren Groening, Kris Swanson and other area musicians and shared testimonies, including Dr. Don Davis of World Impact.

 

Cooperative board to meet Sept. 17

 

The Marion County Special Education Cooperative Board of Directors will meet for their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, in the Marion County Special Education Cooperative conference room, 302 W. Eighth in Florence.

 

Youth bowling league to begin

 

A youth bowling league will begin in Marion at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 at Sher Bowl Lanes.

Children 5 to 18 are invited to participate. New competitors are welcome. Cost is $6.50 for three games.
