Hillsboro Legion to celebrate birthday
March is birthday month for the American Legion and Post#366 of Hillsboro will celebrate from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 9 at the Legion Post.
Members are invited and snacks will be furnished by the Hillsboro Legion Auxiliary.
Post office to hold appreciation day
The Hillsboro Post Office will hold a Customer Appreciation Day Friday, March 7 in conjunction with National Consumer Protection Week.

Card shower for Otto & Frieda Bentz
A card shower is requested for Otto and Frieda Bentz of Tampa in honor of their 65th wedding anniversary.
The couple was married March 14, 1943, at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Tampa.

Charity auction set for March 9
Holy Family Parish will sponsor the fifth-annual Charity Auction Sunday, March 9.
The auction will be held at St. John Nepomucene Church in Pilsen, following the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association Breakfast after the 10:30 a.m. Mass.
The event will include a raffle, live auction and a silent auction with a special room of items for children. Some of the items up for auction are: a whole hog including processing, quilts, many handcrafted items and themed baskets.
The public is invited to attend.
Proceeds from the auction support local charities, domestic relief funds and overseas missions.

Burns PRIDE to have contra dance
Burns PRIDE will sponsor a contra dance from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 14 at the Burns Community Center.
Live music will be provided by Instant Grits and the caller will be John Turner.
The event is open to the public. Cost is a free-will donation to cover the cost of the band and caller.
Kindergarten round-up, USD 408
Marion-Florence Unified School District 408 will have a Kindergarten Round-Up March 24 at Marion Elementary School.
Children must be 5 years old by Aug. 31 in order to enroll.
Parents who wish to enroll kindergartners in the fall must call Deb Shipman at the elementary school, 382-3771 or 1-800-498-2014 to make an appointment.
$25 tree coupons available at City Hall
The Hillsboro Tree Board will again offer coupons for city residents to plant trees.
Up to two coupons, worth $25 each, can be used per household or business to plant an approved species of deciduous tree. A list of approved trees can be found in the Hillsboro Tree Board literature rack located on the south wall of the Hillsboro City Library entrance.
Coupons are available at City Hall.
MOPs to sponsor photo fundraiser
Mothers of Preschoolers will hold a photography fundraiser.
The $20 photo package from On Location Photography includes the sitting fee and 8×10 and 5×7 photographs. Additional packages are available.

Sports performance focus of fitness class
Fit ?n Fitness began Sports Performance month Monday March 3.
Classes will run through March on Mondays and Thursdays at the Hillsboro Elementary School gym. Please enter through the west doors in the alley.
Cost is $35 for the month. Biggest Loser contestants can participate for a reduced fee, $30 for the month.

Parents As Teachers will hold a Book Buddies Group Event from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6 at Hillsboro City Hall.
