Soup dinner set for Kaiser family
A soup benefit dinner for the Stephen Kaiser family is planned from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Lincolnville Community Center.
Stephen Kaiser, a sophomore at Centre High School, was in a car accident south of Burdick Jan. 9 and was air-lifted from the crash site to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Proceeds from the benefit will go toward medical expenses. The public is invited to attend.
Centre FFA to offer pancake feed
During FFA week, Centre FFA will sponsor a community pancake feed from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Lincoln?ville Community Building.
The event is free to the public in appreciation for its support.
Goessel blood drive set for Feb. 21
The American Red Cross blood drive will be welcoming donors from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Goessel Mennonite Church, 109 S. Church.
Walk-ins are welcome, however, those with appointments will be given priority.

Platt to present birding stories
The second presentation of the Winter Lecture Series will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Dyck Arboretum?s Visitor Center in Hesston.
The presentation, titled ?18 Years of Birding Adventures: The Ruth Sisters of Halstead,? will feature Dwight Platt, an emeritus professor of biology from Bethel College. Platt is a lifelong birder who has been in charge of birding data in Harvey County for many years.
Platt has studied the story of sisters Edna and Alma Ruth and their niece Ruth Rose, who lived in Halstead. From 1942 to 1970, the women helped Halstead become the bird watching center of Harvey County.
Platt will show photos and tell tales of this trio?s adventures along the Arkansas River and throughout Harvey County. The records they kept are an important contribution to birding knowledge in the area.
The cost of the lecture is $2. A soup supper will be served at 6 p.m. for an additional $5. RSVP by the Monday before at 620-327-8127.
HES 1st, 2nd grades to present musical
Hillsboro Elementary School first and second-graders will present the musical ?Nuts!? at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in the Hillsboro High School auditorium. The public is invited to attend.
MOPs to feature couples panel
Mothers of Preschoolers will meet from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro.
A couples panel will answer questions about parenting.
Young mothers of the community are invited for visiting and food. Childcare is provided. For mothers who have never attended, the first meeting is free.
