First Mennonite to collect blankets

First Mennonite Church of Hillsboro is currently taking new blanket and towel donations for the Mennonite Central Committee. Upon collection, MCC distributes the donations to people in need around the world.

The Trinity and First Mennonite junior high youth group, SALTeens, have set a goal to collect 100 blankets by Christmas Eve. If you would like to contribute to the project, drop off new, twin or full-sized blankets in the foyer of First Mennonite Church, 102 S. Ash, during the day, or Dec. 19 until 8 p.m. Cash donations will also be accepted.

Goessel High School to present program

The Goessel High School choir and Elbiata Singers, under the direction of Greg Bontrager, and the Goessel High School band, under the direction of Mike Connell, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 in the Goessel High School auditorium.

The public is invited to attend.

Cottonwood Valley service, Dec. 23

Cottonwood Valley Independent Baptist Church of Hillsboro will hold an evening service at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23.

Florence UMC bake sale, Dec. 22

Florence United Methodist Church will hold a ?holiday goodies? bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 22. Purchases can be made by donation.

Ebenfeld to have Christmas program

Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren church will present the play ?Remembering Christmas? at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24.

The event will also feature Christmas carols, special music and Christmas recitations. A live nativity will be on display from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. near the Ebenfeld school house.

The public is invited to attend.

Alpha course to begin Jan. 7

Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion will begin the Alpha course with an introductory dinner at 6 p.m. Jan. 7 in the church?s Wesley Center.

The course is a 10-week practical introduction to the Christian faith and offers answers to key questions.

Each weekly session will begin with an informal dinner, followed by a large group learning time, and will end with small group discussion and interaction.

Goessel K-6 students to present program

The Goessel kindergarten through sixth grade students will present their Christmas program at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 in the Goessel High School auditorium.

The choirs will be directed by Marcia Brubaker and Greg Bontrager. The event was rescheduled due to weather and electricity difficulties.

The public is invited.
