Ford fundraiser results in $2,800 for HHS athletics

Hillsboro Trojan Booster Club treasurer Kerry Shewey and president Rod Hamm accepted a $2,800 donation earlier this month from Terry Hagen and Randy Hagen of Hillsboro Ford. The contribution was the result of Hillsboro Ford and Ford Motor Co. sponsoring ?Drive For Your School? on April 11. For every person test-driving a Ford vehicle, $20 was donated to the booster club. Almost 150 people participated during the five-hour fundraiser. ?We will be doing another ?Drive For Your School? during the fall football season,? Terry Hagen said. Shewey added, ?This is a great way to help the local Booster Club and our athletic director, Robert Rempel.? Over the years, the Booster Club has used donations to purchase a defibrillator, wrestling mats, padded chairs, a video camera and other smaller items. Other than the Trojan Classic basketball tournament in mid-January, Hamm said, the Ford donation is the largest contribution the club has received?and easily the most return for the amount of time invested. ?We couldn?t make this (donation) happen without residents shopping locally,? Terry Hagen said. ?Local businesses employ friends and neighbors, and support the community.?
