Driver safety course set for March 26

Another driver safety course will be offered from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 26, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27, and is open to everyone, regardless of age.

?Under Kansas law, automobile insurance companies are required to allow a discount on premiums to those who have taken the (eight-hour) course,? said Jona Baltzer, course instructor.

The last driver?s education course was offered in late January during the week, making it difficult for students and others to take time off.

?This second course,? he said, ?will accommodate a weekend schedule for employees and/or students.?

Although the course is offered by AARP?American Association of Retired Persons?it is open to everyone.

?Drivers, regardless of their age, or anyone wanting good information for better driving in today?s traffic can enroll,? Baltzer said.

The cost for each participant is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members, covering price of materials.

For more information, call the Hillsboro Senior Center, 620-947-2304 or Baltzer at 620-947-2446.
