Donations provide oven for seniors

The Hillsboro Senior Center received two donations Thurs?day that will cover the cost of a new commercial oven for its kitchen. In the top photo, HSC board president Charles Rempel and center director Brenda Moss hold the check for $1,450 presented by Gene Lorson (left), a member of the Flint Hills Foundation for Older Kansans. In the bottom photo, Moss and Rempel hold the check for $3,400 presented by Renae Plett (left) and Candace Moss on behalf of Golden Heritage Foods, the Hillsboro-based honey processor. Brent Barkman, owner, said the company chose to support the project as a way to give back to the community by honoring seniors, some of whom were involved in the development of the Hillsboro Industrial Park, where their business is located today.
