Hymn sing planned Sunday in Hillsboro

 

The monthly community hymn sing begins at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at First Mennonite Church, Ash and Grand streets, Hillsboro.

This month’s theme, “Jehovah-Jireh: the God Who Provides,” will include singing, prayer and scripture reading.

Those attending will also have an opportunity to select favorite hymns to be sung.

Coordinating the hymn sing is Steve Vincent. Vocal music will be provided by Susan Jantzen, pastor, and Holly Swartzendruber.

 

Marion to celebrate Christmas Dec. 2

 

The city of Marion is having its Christmas celebration Dec. 2 beginning at 12:30 p.m. Highlights include Gallery 101 showcasing acrylics by Janessa Woods and dozens of other artists, the library’s Christmas Home Tour from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and live music, puppet shows and more. The parade begins at 4 p.m.

Hillsboro rec offers open-gym dates

 

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission will sponsor open gym from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. the remaining two Wednesdays of November and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. the remaining Sunday of the month.

Open gym is for youth and adult basketball players who would like to play in pick-up games or practice shooting. Participants must bring a separate set of clean basketball shoes to wear on the gym floor and must provide their own basketballs.
