Commissioner to host meeting

Marion County Commis?sioner Dan Holub invites all county residents to a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Satur?day, Nov. 23, at the Marion County Park and Lake hall.

Mission leader to be event speaker

Brent Warkentin, board chair of the global mission agency for Mennonite Breth?ren churches in North America, will speak about the state of Christianity in the world at the Lifelong Learning Thanksgiving Dinner, 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22.
Lead pastor of First Men?nonite Brethren Church in Wichita, Warkentin is a 1985 graduate of Tabor College.
Warkentin spent many of his formative years in Indo?nesia, where his parents were missionaries.
Tickets for the event are $10 and must be purchased before Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Centre FFA blood drive set Nov. 25

Centre FFA is sponsoring a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the main gymnasium of Centre High School.
Walk-ins are welcome.

TC instrumental program Sunday

The Tabor College Cham?ber Strings and Symphonic Band will present the annual Christmas instrumental performance at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Hillsboro Menno?nite Breth?ren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe.
This year?s theme is ?Snapshots of Christmas.? The Chamber Strings will play a piece titled ?Rhythmic Snapshots of Christmas? and all of the selections presented will provide musical snapshots of the Christmas message.
Contemporary interpretations of traditional Christ?mas carols and classics such as ?Sleigh Ride? and ?A Christmas Festival? will be presented by both the Cham?ber Strings and Symphonic Band.

Marion Farm/City Banquet is Nov. 25

The Marion Chamber of Commerce invites area farmers and ranchers to its annual Farm/City Appre?cia?tion Banquet Monday, Nov. 25, at the Marion Com?munity Center. Steaks will be served at 6 p.m.
Roger Hannaford, chair of the event, said the purpose of the banquet ?is to show appreciation to our area farmers and ranchers. We invite them to town for a steak dinner and all the trimmings.?
No advance notice is required.

LMC seeks people for 2014 classes

Leadership Marion County is taking applications for the series of nine classes which will begin in February 2014.
Classes will meet every other Thursday in various locations within Marion County with one trip to Topeka to meet with state representatives.
The goal of LMC is in developing unity among the communities of the county, identifying current and future leaders, examining issues facing the county and encouraging service at local and county levels.
Applications are available at the Marion County Court?house, Florence City Hall, Goessel City Hall, Hillsboro Library, Tampa State Bank in Tampa or Burns Library.
The deadline to submit applications is Dec. 15.

Lake group plans ?Tunnel of Lights?

The neighbors on Hill Road at Marion County Lake are planning the ninth- annual ?Tunnel of Lights? drive from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1.
The free event begins with cocoa and popcorn at the start, plus candy from Santa and Mrs. Claus for the children.
The drive includes acres of Christmas decorations, Rudolph flying above the water, a 30-foot decorated tree, lighted historical lake shelters and seasonal music and lights from homes along the way.
In addition to surrounding communities, the event has drawn people from Wichita, Hutch?inson, Salina and Topeka in past years, according to organizers.

Tampa Christmas event set Dec. 8

Santa Claus will be visiting Tampa beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 8. In addition, a soup supper by donation is from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by the Cottonwood River Band Concert at 6:30 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
