NMKSO to perform summer concert

The Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra will presents “European Con­trasts” at 4 p.m., Sunday, June 3, at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, 1200 Boyd Ave.

The program will highlight chamber music featuring John Harrison, James Jones and Karen Schlau­baugh. Tickets are $13 in advance, $15 at the door; students, $6 or $7. The evening includes a dessert reception following the concert.

Library to host stuffed-animal event

Marion City Library will host a Safari Stuffed Animal workshop at 7 p.m. June 7 in the Santa Fe Room.

Children age 5 and older must register by May 15, and choose the animal they wish to make—elephant, monkey, hippo or tiger. The cost is $10. Call the library at 620-382-2442 to register.

At the workshop, children will hand-stuff their animal with fluff and love, then insert wishes and special intentions inside each animal. When complete, the children will name their animal and receive a birth certificate for it.
