Community Blood Drive on Apr. 18

A blood drive will be held from 1-6 p.m. on Thursday, April 18 at Trinity Mennonite Church at 211 S. Elm.

Be sure to bring your photo ID, drink plenty of water and eat before your appointment.

Farm Bureau and Dales are providing the supplies and food and Kiwanis are helping with set up tear down.

MCL to host gardening class on Apr. 23

Dewayne Herrs, a Master Gardener from McPherson, will be presenting a program on flowers and gardening at the Marion City Library for a Lunch n’ Learn from 12-1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23.

Lunch is $5.00. Reservations need to be made by April 18 by calling the Marion City Library 620-382-2442.

Group forms a wind power watch

Marion County Wind Power Watch (MCWPW) held its inaugural meeting Tuesday, April 2 in Hillsboro. The group is concerned about Expedition Wind’s proposed 100-tower wind farm in southern Marion County; they met to discuss Expedition Wind’s application for a Conditional Use Permit (CUP).

The Marion County Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on the CUP, April 25. This will be the only opportunity for formal public input on the issue. MCWPW will be meeting weekly until April 25.
