Youth Track will meet in Marion in April

Youth track will be held again in Marion from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on April 15 and 22.

Show up at the Warrior Stadium and work with Coach Thierolf and the MHS track team.

Wear comfortable clothes, tennis shoes and a smile.

There is no cost for this, but sign up is encouraged by April 4. Contact Marion Parks and Rec at 620-382-3425 or email margo@marionks.net.

Free Screening for children available

A FREE screening for children birth through five years old will be held Tuesday, April 16 in Florence.

Appointments will be available from 9-11:30 a.m. At the screening, development will be checked in the areas of cognitive, motor, speech/language, and social/emotional. Vision and hearing will also be screened.

This process usually takes at least one hour for a child to complete. All children are welcome, but an appointment is necessary.

Parents as Teachers annual zoo trip

The Parents as Teachers annual Sedgwick County Zoo Trip will be May 11, 2019. Check in is from 9:30 – 10 am at the PAT table.

Please RSVP by May 7. Bring $5 per person age 3 and up. Age 2 and under is free. Bring sun block. Snacks and a family activity packet will be provided.

2S2S will make freezer meals Apr. 13

Second Saturday to Serve will be making freezer meals for the Marion and Hillsboro food banks from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 13.

The cost is $20 per person to participate. You can also pay an additional $20 to take 3 meals home for your family. Kids are welcome with an adult.

Hillsboro Community Block Party Apr. 16

The Community Block Party is from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16.

It will be in the Block of Main Street Between Grand and 1st. The Street will be blocked off at 4 p.m. so that the Fire Department can start the grills and begin cooking.

Food will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. until it runs out.

All children and Tabor students (with valid ID) will receive 1 free meal. Adults can purchase meals for a small fee.

Marion Co. Democrats will meet on Apr. 13

The Marion County Democrats will meet at 10 a.m. on April 13 at the Community Center in Marion in the conference room in the basement.

All precinct people and all county Democrats are encouraged to attend.

HHS Jr./Sr. Prom will be held Apr. 13

The 2019 Junior/Senior Prom for Hillsboro High School will be this Saturday, April 13.

Students begin the evening with pictures in the park prior to the promenade that begins at 7 p.m. in the circle drive on the east side of the high school.

The public is welcome to attend promenade. The doors to the small gym will be open from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. to allow the public to sneak a peek at the “Evening in Paris” decorations.

If the weather is questionable, the promenade will take place in the big gym. Check the USD 410 website, facebook, and twitter.

Jazz duo to perform on Apr. 13

The jazz duo of Mike Fetters and Tom Harder will perform from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at Rhubarb Market Coffeehouse and Roasters in Hillsboro.

Pie will be served at the coffeehouse. It is located at 104 S. Main.
