Marion County Democrats meeting

Marion County Democrats will meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Marion Community Center in the basement Conference room.

All precinct people as well as county Democrats are encouraged to attend to continue plans for the 2019 political year.

Relay for Life meets on Feb. 19

Relay For Life of Marion County will be meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at the Hillsboro Chamber Office, 110 N Main.

We will be finalizing our kick off event as well as the food drives for Marion and Hillsboro Elementary Schools.

We still have numerous volunteer opportunities available to help with both before and during the event.

The meeting is open to all. Bring some past Relay photos and memories to share.

Hillsboro Kiwanas serve meal Feb. 16

The Kiwanas will serve biscuits with sausage gravy from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Hillsboro Senior Center.

The price is a $5 donation in advance or $6 donation at the door. Kids 6 and under are free. The proceeds will go for Youth Services.

Presentation on Mother Teresa Feb. 17

Come to the Holy Family Parish Activity Center, at 415 N. Cedar, Marion at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17 to hear Linda Schaefer share her work with Mother Teresa that spans about 23 years.

Linda started as a volunteer with the Order of the Missionaries of Charities, and is now a gatherer of historical documentation and witness accounts with people who were instrumental to Mother’s mission of serving the most in need in communities worldwide.

Linda’s 3rd book on Mother Teresa is coming out this fall. Her first two books will be available to purchase after her talk, and she will sign them.

Hot tea will be served, bring a snack to share if you wish. Everyone is invited, bring your friends!

Quilt Drawing for Goessel High School

A drawing for a queen-sized, pieced and tied comforter will be held at Goessel High School at the Feb. 15 basketball games.

Tickets are $3 for 1 or $5 for 2. You can purchase the tickers at GHS home basketball games between games and at half time until Feb. 15.

All proceeds will go to benefit the GHS after-prom party event.

TEEN Meeting scheduled for Feb. 20

The Technology Excellence in Education Network (TEEN) will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

The meeting will be held at the USD 408 District Office at 101 North Thorp, Marion, Kansas 66861.

Goessel Mennonite Church Blood Drive

Winter storms have kept blood donors home and cancelled some blood drives, so the need for blood is critical at this time.

The next drive at Goessel Mennonite Church is from 1-6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25.
